How We Started

During a conversation with my parents, we discussed the role of baseball in my life and faith. They asked me questions like, "What are your intentions with baseball? Will you prioritize playing for wins over attending church on Sundays?" Their questions made me realize the importance of combining my faith into my passion for baseball.

My mom emphasized the significance of prioritizing matters of the heart and faith. She talked about whether I was just playing baseball and then trying to incorporate faith, or if I could use baseball as a vehicle for sharing and living out my faith.

During our discussions, I came up with the idea of "Pray at the Plate" in place of "Pay at the Plate" tournaments. I suggested sponsoring existing tournaments by fundraising for all the teams to have free entry fees or free pay-at-the-plate fees. In return, I would lead a prayer before each game, host a Sunday morning worship service, and set up a booth for discipleship.

As we brainstormed, my sister suggested incorporating something for the siblings who attend the tournaments. We came up with the idea of a baseball siblings club, where siblings could pick up a faith bag with fun items in it.
